Brazil’s trade performance in commodities remains a global highlight. Agribusiness exports from Brazil reached $152.6 billion in the past year, nearly half of the country’s total exports. Massive harvests and strong demand for Brazilian agricultural goods drive this boom.
For instance, Brazil exported 2.89 million tons of beef, a 26% increase from the previous year, solidifying its position as the world’s top beef exporter. Both beef and chicken exports are projected to reach new records, supported by strong Chinese demand and lower feed costs.
Brazil’s soybean sector also performs well, maintaining its spot as the world’s top soy exporter. While total soybean exports dipped slightly from the previous year’s record, soy meal exports are expected to hit an all-time high. Additionally, Brazil is now the world’s largest corn exporter after a substantial harvest season.
The sugar market also saw significant gains—October exports hit 3.73 million tons, up 29.8% year-on-year. Some sugar and ethanol producers noted that export demand remained strong even with local crop challenges like drought and fires.
With China remaining the top buyer of Brazilian soy, meat, and sugar, any shifts in Chinese purchasing behavior or new trade agreements could significantly impact Brazil’s export outlook in the months ahead.
